University of Oxford appoints the first Hillary Rodham Clinton Professor of Women’s History

Professor Brenda E. Stevenson, currently Nickoll Family Endowed Professor of History at UCLA will be joining the University of Oxford as the inaugural Hillary Rodham Clinton Chair of Women’s History. Professor Stevenson is an internationally leading historian of race, slavery, gender, family and conflict. Her work explores the intersections of sex, race and politics, placing women – and particularly women of colour – at the centre of accounts of political and social developments. Her many publications include works that are sensitive reconstructions of women’s lives and examinations of family dynamics.

The newly created Hillary Rodham Clinton Chair of Women’s History will enhance Oxford’s existing work in women’s history by undertaking outstanding, pioneering research, and transforming how the subject is taught and studied at the University. Oxford will be welcoming Professor Stevenson in the autumn of 2021.
