Port Regis announces New Head 23 Apr 2015

The Governors are delighted to announce the appointment of Stephen Ilett as the new Headmaster of Port Regis. Stephen’s wife, Amanda, will also play a significant role at the school. Despite the exceptionally strong final field, Stephen was comfortably the most able candidate, having the vision, energy and experience to take the school forward. As a result, the Governors’ decision was unanimous.

Stephen is currently Headmaster at Milbourne Lodge, a co-educational Prep and Pre-Prep in Esher, Surrey, a position he has held for the last five years. Amanda also works at the school as Marketing Manager. Milbourne Lodge has thrived during their time at the school. Parents speak of Stephen’s strong connection with the children and credit him with making it both a highly successful school and a happy one.

Before taking over at Milbourne Lodge, Stephen spent eight years at Caldicott Prep School in Buckinghamshire, becoming Director of Studies and Head of Year 7, with specific responsibility for senior school transition. Stephen spent eighteen years in the City at Lloyd’s of London, reaching the level of board director, before moving into education. He read Modern History at Lincoln College, Oxford, and played rugby for the University’s 1st XV. As a boy, he boarded at Rossall School in Lancashire, where his father was a housemaster. Stephen and Amanda have five children between them; the youngest is in his final year at Radley.
