Epsom College appoints new Headmaster 10 Jun 2011

Chairman of Governors Dr Andrew Vallance-Owen has announced that James A (Jay) Piggot will succeed Stephen Borthwick as Headmaster of Epsom College in September 2012.

Currently Headmaster of Campbell College in Belfast, Jay studied for a BA in English Literature at Cardiff University before completing a Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) at Pembroke College, Cambridge, where he played rugby for the University 1st XV, and an MA in Renaissance Literature at the University of Liverpool.

Following university, Jay went on to become a specialist English teacher, initially at Millfield School in Somerset and then at Eton College, where he spent seven years as a Housemaster, before taking up his current post in 2006.

Jay, his wife Poppy and their three children will join the Epsom College community next summer on the retirement of Stephen Borthwick, who has been Headmaster for the past 11 years.

"I look forward to working closely with Jay over the coming years to continue to build on the solid foundations that Stephen has established," said Andrew Vallance-Owen.
