Baroness Helene Hayman appointed Chair of the Board of Cambridge University Health Partners 12 Sep 2014

Cross bench life peer Baroness Helene Hayman is the chair of the board of Cambridge University Health Partners.

Baroness Hayman, has been a member of the House of Lords since 1996.

Baroness Hayman has a wealth of experience in the health sector having served on medical ethics committees and governing bodies in the National Health Service (NHS) as well as on health charities and regulators.

Baroness Hayman held the role of undersecretary of state at the Department of Health from 1998 to 1999. She is currently a member of the General Medical Council. In 2006 Baroness Hayman made history by becoming the first elected member of the House of Lords. Since leaving office as the Lord Speaker, she has taken an increasing interest in issues relating to health in developing countries. She is Vice Chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Neglected Tropical Diseases; she is a Trustee of the Malaria Consortium, the Sabin Vaccine institute and the Disasters Emergency Committee.
