Message from Jim Collins, Chairman of Governors
I’m very pleased to be able to announce that the Governors of Aylesbury Grammar School have appointed Mr Mark Sturgeon as Head Master with effect from 1 September 2014.
Mark graduated in 1993 with a degree in Geography from Liverpool University. He is currently Deputy Headmaster at Dr. Challoner’s Grammar School in Amersham, where he joined in 2005 as Assistant Head before his promotion to Deputy. Previously, he was Head of Sixth Form and Head of Geography at AGS, and has maintained strong links with the school.
As well as his many academic and educational achievements, Mark is a keen Rugby player and qualified football coach, but also enjoys squash, golf and water skiing. The Governors eagerly await his plans for introducing the last of these to the curriculum.
We were delighted to have a very strong field of candidates from whom Mark was chosen to be the next Head of AGS. The other Governors and I look forward to working with him to build on the excellent progress that the school has made under Stephen Lehec in the past six years. Mark will be an inspirational leader for everyone at the school.
