Founded in 1784, and with an international footprint across 5 countries, RCSI is a dedicated health sciences university with Schools of Medicine, Physiotherapy, Population Health, Pharmacy & Biomolecular Sciences, Nursing & Midwifery, Postgraduate Studies and a Graduate School of Healthcare Management. RCSI is also the national centre for surgical training and standards in Ireland. A strong focus on bench to bedside translational research of the highest quality has enabled our clinical publication citation rate to become the highest in Ireland. We are proudly ranked number one in the world for SDG3 ‘Good Health and Well-being’ in THE University Impact Rankings.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Our current Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Professor Hannah McGee, has indicated her intention to stand down in 2024. We are now seeking to appoint an exceptional leader to join RCSI’s Senior Management Team. As RCSI’s chief academic officer, the successful candidate will provide strategic academic leadership and be responsible for all academic-related affairs, including the academic life, wellbeing and career supports for the undergraduate and postgraduate Medical and Health Sciences student population.
This is a significant time of opportunity and growth for RCSI and is an exciting time to join the university as we embark on the delivery of our new five-year strategy which will focus on enabling further growth and innovation.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
This is an outstanding opportunity for an exceptional individual who can bring strategic vision and leadership to the university. The ideal candidate for the post will be an eminent academic with proven strategic capability and have a thorough knowledge of the major issues impacting the sector. They will be at full professorial level and will have an extensive record of scholarly achievement in their field of research and bring personal authority to the post with a successful track record of leadership in a major academic institution.
