University of Leicester Announces New Deputy Vice-Chancellor 25 Jun 2018

The University of Leicester is delighted to inform you that they have appointed Professor Edmund Burke as their new Deputy Vice-Chancellor.

Professor Burke was appointed following a competitive recruitment process and is currently Vice-Principal for the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Queen Mary University of London. Prior to this, Professor Burke held the position at of Deputy Principal for Research at Stirling University from 2011 to 2014 and, for a period of time, between 2014 and 2015, held the post of Senior Deputy Principal and Deputy Vice-Chancellor.

Professor Burke is a Professor of Computer Science and prior to his move to Stirling, worked for over 20 years at the University of Nottingham. Professor Burke currently holds honorary appointments at both the Universities of Stirling and Lancaster and is an active researcher who will bring with him a significant EPSRC grant.

The role of Deputy Vice-Chancellor replaces the role of Provost. Professor Burke will be joining the University in early July 2018.
