Michael Gibbons was appointed Principal and Chief Executive of The Grammar School at Leeds. Formerly Headmaster of Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Wakefield, Mike was educated at the City of Leicester Grammar School and gained his degree from King's College London. He is also a founder member of the working party for the Forum of Independent Day Schools.
What excited me about GSAL was the prospect of leading a school which combined the best of modernity with a rich and proud heritage. A fabulous new school possessing exceptional facilities allied to a tradition of excellent education built upon generations of endeavour.
The Grammar School at Leeds is an outstanding school located on a recently built campus set in over 120 acres to the north of Leeds. It came into existence in 2005 with the merger of Leeds Grammar School (founded 1552) and Leeds Girls' High School (founded 1876). Excellent academic results, extensive intellectual breadth offering 30 A level subjects alongside the IB and a dazzling range of extra-curricular activities, have already earned the School an enviable reputation.
